SAMRA | سمرة

An Arabic-first social games platform: Jackaroo, Ludo, Dominoes, Carrom, 8-ball Pool and Memory, played live with friends in the browser or on iPhone. The project is in development and not yet public.

The problem

Most social game platforms rely on coins sold without clear controls, their results can’t be verified, and most are English-only.

The solution

Each game’s rules run only on the server, so players never see other players’ cards and can’t change a result from their device. Virtual coins and gifts pass through a server ledger with duplicate-protection keys, and an admin panel reports revenue separately from cash collected: VAT, refunds, fees and deferred amounts.

Key features

  • Six games with server-side rules, a turn timer and automatic moves when time runs out
  • Private rooms with invite codes, quick chat, and digital gifts between friends
  • Accounts with secure sign-in, a friends list and a leaderboard
  • A coin wallet with an append-only history, and iPhone purchases through Apple
  • An admin panel for the owner and moderators, with a revenue report kept separate from cash collected
  • Arabic right-to-left and English left-to-right interfaces, and a native iPhone app

Verified outcomes

  • Tests for game rules, accounts, the wallet, Apple receipt verification and live rooms pass in the local test environment, plus a browser smoke test of the main flows. The real payment flow and the iPhone build on physical devices have not been tested yet.

How it works

Trust before features

  • No real coins are sold until payments are set up and tested in a sandbox.
  • Any balance or gift credited to a player is written to a server ledger and changed only through a recorded operation.
  • The project is not yet public; this page shows its actual status.

How it is built

  • Game rules are written in TypeScript and shared between the server, the browser and the phone app.
  • A Node.js server with PostgreSQL, and live updates over WebSocket.
  • A native iPhone app built with React Native (Expo), and a React web app.

Next

A public beta, real payments once they pass testing, email verification, then App Store review.
